HOW TRUST WORKS
Aequitas used to be the system with the most perspectives. It’s now the system that won’t hand you a confident answer it can’t back up: a verification layer sits between the deliberation and the verdict, and certification has to be earned, or honestly declined.
THE GATE
Every claim in a certified verdict is checked by a formal proof engine that decides whether the conclusion actually follows from the stated reasons. That’s the difference between “another model thinks this looks right” and “this was mathematically checked.” Every certified tier runs this same verification floor.
Before any verdict is certified, it must clear a gate that looks for positive evidence: a real formal guarantee, corroborating independent signals. “We didn’t find a problem” is never treated as “therefore it’s certified.” When the evidence doesn’t clear the bar, the verdict is flagged as not fully grounded rather than certified anyway.
Complex reasoning systems can quietly fall back to a weaker mode and keep serving as if nothing changed. Aequitas checks the health of its own machinery on every run and refuses to certify a verdict produced in a degraded state. A degraded run reads as degraded; it never looks identical to a full-strength one.
An adversarial challenge actively tries to break the proposed verdict before it ships. When the audit and the model disagree, the audit outranks the model’s own opinion.
THREE COMMITMENTS
Confidence used to be asserted: a reliability number attached to a verdict whether or not the machinery behind it was healthy. Now it’s earned: grounding is proven by a formal check, not assumed from the absence of red flags.
A confident wrong answer is worse than an honest “not certified.” If the reasoning can’t be grounded or the engine is degraded, Aequitas declines to certify rather than guess, and tells you that’s what happened.
Every certified verdict ships with its basis of certification: what was checked, which verification steps ran, and the state of the confidence model, in plain language, so a certified verdict is never an unexplained black box.
OUR CLAIMS, GRADED
Over-claiming would undercut the entire product, so we grade our own claims in public. If a row says rolling out, no salesperson will tell you otherwise.
Built and tested, but not yet in the default live path, so we don’t market them as if they were. This list shortens as rollouts complete.
